Confirm the meeting point
Send the crew your arrival plan if you have luggage, a stroller or someone who needs more time at the gangway. A short walk shown on a map may still involve steps, busy quays and a narrow boarding point.
If the yacht leaves from another marina, the proposal should identify it before you arrange transfers. A city-centre photograph on a charter page is not evidence that all departures use the Vieux-Port.
Set out the embarkation instructions
A Marseille embarkation can involve quayside movement, a narrow gangway and steps between yacht spaces. Describe access needs before the yacht is chosen.
Ask for a precise view of the boarding point and internal layout. Terms such as spacious or family-friendly do not establish wheelchair access or a step-free route to the toilet.
The crew can assess what assistance is safe for their vessel. If the answer is uncertain, request another layout or a different proposal rather than leaving the decision to the departure day.
Once everyone is aboard
For the Calanques, ask the operator to establish that the vessel and activity meet the park’s requirements. Hiring a skipper does not by itself remove the need for the correct authorisation.
Travel to the marina before charter time
Boarding and the return to the harbour take time. Ask what the booking duration includes and how the skipper will handle a delayed group rather than assuming every hour will be spent at the scenic endpoint.
